Maha Mrutyunjaya mantra - Translation

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनाम् ।

उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान् मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥

                                           - Rig Veda (7.59.12)

Om tryambakam yajamahe sugandhim pusti vardhanam |
urvarukam iva bandhanaan mrutyor muksheeya maamrutaat ||

Translation:
....................

Om. I worship/give sacrifice to the three eyed one (tryambaka), the one with fragrance, the one who increases/strengthens the life force/vigor.

I am captive like a melon in its vein. Free us from death/decay and not from immortality.

[Like a melon which overgrows and yet remain attached to its vein,
so do we overgrow spiritually yet remain attached to human conditions. This is as far the ordinary consciousness can arrive at in the righteous path. Going ahead, I invoke/solicit the spiritual consciousness (third eye; in personification 'tryambaka') to keep me in the divine path of immortality and cut me off from the path of death/decay.]

मृत्योर् - from death

मुक्षीय - free (me/us) from
